Remember 2 weeks ago I gave a rule of thumb for losing weight:
“To lose about ½ a kilo PER WEEK, you need to burn an extra 500 calories PER DAY, or cut back an extra 500 calories PER DAY.”
If you missed the post have a look here How to Lose Weight Effectively and Keep It Off
Above are examples of foods you can avoid to make those kilos drop! If you regularly eat these foods then they might be your first options to drop.
Remember dropping any of these daily, plus a 20 min brisk walk each day will get you close to that 500 calories deficit! Let me expand some more:
- Fast Food Chain Fries. 1 medium portion of McDonalds fries has approximately 330 calories. A large portion has 400 calories.
- Chocolate Cake. An average slice of cake at a café can be around 365cal or more!
- Scone. A large scone can have more than 320cal. Even a small one can have nearly 200cal.
- Timtam biscuits. 200 calories for 2 biscuits (and I understand it is difficult to stop at 2!)
- Potato Chips. 1 bag of chips (150g) has about 789 calories. I have heard that people can eat half or a whole bag in a sitting. Drop that half bag and you can save 400 calories.
- Ice Cream. A magnum ice cream can have 329 calories. Even a classic Trumpet can have 250cal
- Wine. A 115ml glass of wine has about 120 cal. Most of us actually pour a glass around 2 times that or more. If you chose to have a glass of wine make sure it’s a small one, and keep to one.
